DJI Confirms Entry into the 3D Printing Market

DJI has recently confirmed its investment in Shenzhen Intelligent Pie Technology Co., Ltd., marking its official entry into the consumer-level 3D printing sector. According to public business records, Intelligent Pie completed a change in its shareholding structure on November 18, adding a DJI-related entity as a shareholder, while its registered capital was also increased.

Founded in 2015, Intelligent Pie focuses on the research, development, and production of consumer-grade 3D printers, laser engraving machines, and STEM kits. Its brands have achieved strong shipment volumes in the global entry-level market.

The investment has drawn significant industry attention, partly because Intelligent Pie and Bambu Lab are both major domestic players in the consumer 3D printing market. Bambu Lab’s founder, Tao Ye, previously worked at DJI for many years and was responsible for several core product lines. A number of members of his team also have backgrounds at DJI. As Bambu Lab has seen rapid business growth in recent years, the relationship between the two companies—now operating in the same segment—has become a focus of industry discussion.

DJI stated that the investment is based on its confidence in the long-term potential of consumer 3D printing technology and the sector’s growth prospects, aligning with the company’s long-term strategy in innovative technologies. Meanwhile, Intelligent Pie has maintained strong growth in the consumer 3D printing segment, with shipments of related products reaching around 500,000 units in 2024.
